Trunks and Hunks: Eastbourne's New Sea Swim for Men, Mental Health & Mornings Well Spent
Trunks and Hunks is Eastbourne's New Mental Health movement in Eastbourne
There’s a new wave of energy hitting Eastbourne’s seafront, and it’s called Trunks and Hunks—a newly launched initiative that combines the invigorating power of sea swimming with male camaraderie, mental health support, and good old-fashioned community spirit.
Every Sunday at 7am, a growing group of local men gather on the beach to dive into the cool waters of the Sussex coast. But this is about much more than braving the cold—it’s about connection, conversation, and a fresh start to the week.
Why It Matters
Mental health can be a difficult subject for men to talk about. Trunks and Hunks offers a unique, low-pressure environment where guys can come together, get active, and open up. There’s something powerful about the shared challenge of a cold swim that breaks down barriers and encourages honesty, laughter, and mutual support.
The initiative taps into the proven benefits of cold-water swimming for mental and physical health—boosting mood, reducing stress, and building resilience. Followed by a hot drink and informal chats on the beach, each session feels both revitalising and grounding.

A Community for All Men
Whether you’re a seasoned swimmer or new to the idea, Trunks and Hunks welcomes men of all ages, backgrounds, and fitness levels. The focus isn’t on performance—it’s on showing up, getting in the water, and being part of something supportive and positive.
It’s a reminder that self-care can be social, that community is powerful, and that a sunrise swim can do more for your mindset than any motivational quote.
